.....because you know you want to....
Hello! (damn, I cant seem to get rid of bold and Italics) ok, thats better...
I have decided to include some more pictures of Hanoi (one day, when we are allowed to move away from the city I will hopefully get some nice pictures of the countryside etc.... though this might be sooner than we think since MKE is doing seminars in the country regions, up in the "mountains" to the north, so we might go along some time .... I hope).
The pictures detail the ever present Pho .... which has been our breakfast for the last two weeks...
And here is a close up of the worlds (read: Vietnam) most famous soup!
So beyond taking pictures of Soup (damn that bold italic stuff!) we have been doing other things.... mainly in the office. However last night we were invited to a dancing competition (not as dancers but as spectators) at the Economics University here in Hanoi, needless to say we got severely lost on the way there.... we had to take two taxis's since we realised the first one was taking us the wrong way... and a couple of miscomprehensions (i.e. thinking we were in
one area but actually being in another - everything looks the same here to me.... except the bits that are by the lakes and rivers, or dykes and ditches usually). So when we finally got there we were treated to 45 minutes of couples dancing the Samba, the Rhumba and the slow slow stuff.... needless to say it was quite amusing, but quite perplexingly we kept on seeing that some couples were given flowers at the end of the performance for each round, which was quite wierd since often the couple receiving flowers was actually dreadful at dancing .... but a helpful Vietnamese girl next to us explained that they were receiving "the favour" of some other students (i.e. immagine its an unsubtle way of being hit on anonymously....). Anyhow that was fun.... except getting lost... as usual.
The Dodgy Lift!
When we returned to the Hotel (yes we are still in the hotel) we found that the lift well was proceeding well (I actually managed to ask what the heck they were building this morning and it was confirmed to be a lift). So as usual construction through the night (but we have built an immunity to noise now!!! yay!!!!!!!!) - dodgy construction I might add...
Tom O'Connel from the USA, Princeton asks if it might be possible to view some pictures from the office: Of course... I have taken one yesterday just to show you all where I work (more pictures of Jodie in her (highly stressed out) office downstairs in the future!

Gregory Sampson (France - well Switzerland really) asks whats strongest: A Rhino or a Hippo - I wouldnt know yet Greg, once I have eaten both I will let you know, ok? And as for eating dogs ... its a dog eat dog world here... so I think I want to join in the feast too!
Anyhow... thats enough from me today.... so see you all next time!!!
